I am interested in how individual's beliefs about knowledge and knowing (epistemic beliefs) interact with their social identities, including political ideology, to impact what evidence they believe and/or trust. More specifically, I have researched how epistemic beliefs, political ideology, and the information environment impact the ways in which people defend their political misperceptions when confronted with the fact that experts disagree with them. Additionally, I investigate how to create interventions to improve individual's ability to discern true from false information.
